Hi Felisha,
I have one possible scam that I wanted to bring up. It's Spliffington Management who is claiming they are not accepting anymore producers because their roster is full, but if you send in your beat CD and they like it:
1. They will send you a contract that for one month he will shop your beats to his industry contacts.
2. You send in $500 with the signed contract and at that point your 1 month consultation begins
3. It includes regular feedback from the labels as well

I had an appointment w/ an entertainment lawyer on another matter and (knew this was bogus) had him review the contract. He pretty much laughed at it and said run, because there is no guarantee that Spliff will do any of the things he says and you would be out $500. I never did the contract, but the guy hounded me for a while about it. I've heard from other forums that he's taking the money and not getting back to people and not giving them their feedback. The e-mails get fewer and fewer then no more. To be fair I did read on one forum where one guy said he got a couple projects through it. But my gut tells me he's being disengenuous by having people believe he will shop their product hard for a month if they give him $500. Also the producer I.N.F.O. that was down with him I believe has parted ways due to shady practices.

You would think it would be easy to spot this and be like no I ain't paying nobody $500. But I know some cats want to get on so bad that they would throw caution to the wind.

i've heard nothing but bad things about this dude.....

Man I sent this dude a beat cd like three months ago. He got back to me and he said he liked my production, so he sent me a contract. And it was for a month of consultation also. He managed my boy Knoxville, and my boy Knoxville placed a lot of tracks through him for Dipset including Summer wit Miami (Jim Jones And Tre Songs) like three or four tracks on JR Writers album and some mix tape tracks also. My botod me not to pay the $500.00 and this dude use to mange him. Im hungry and was going to do it, but I start thinking if somebody feeling you they would just snatch you up and manage you. This dude is a joke. he keeps e-mailing me asking me if Im going to get down with him, like pressuring me to pay the $500.00. He then took $100.00 off, and went down to $400.00. Knowing that he is offering everybody this so called "consultation" cause he think their sweet makes me believe he is a FRAUD!!!!!!! Watch Out For SPLIFFINGTON MANAGEMET!!

and I always belive that if a person really belives in you liek THAT, that go head and shop it and take the money off the back end WHEN THE BEAT SOLD..I asked him why dont he jsut do that, and he kept dodging the question.

And dude used to keep hounding me every week..

This whole thing seem like a joke..I also keep wondering why all his producers keep leaving him..Info, Knoxville, some other cats..dont knwo for sure but it has to be somthign for you to up and leave a manager even AFTER they got you placements

cosign i read that contract by myself without a lawyer and knew it was bogus so i never paid

he has been emailing me atleast every month since dec. i told him i have been working with an independent label on tracks at the moment (which is true) so i will notify him when im ready... this thread make want to block his email..... i got his email from a scratch mag a few issues ago so i assumed he was legit but reading yall posts i dont know if im going that route........................im glad i waited long enough to find out about other peoples experience..... and to think i was never going to bring it up in this forum. thanks ALOT!!

damn this is nuts, i also got his info outta the scratch mag, emailed him up ,he hit me back, exchanged numbers, talked on the phone couple of times. me i told dude the 500 for a month was a lil too high i could see 500 hundred for 2 months but not for one, dude seemed cool, told me he understood, told me he would give me some time and would hit me back, he hit me back and i told em i needed more time at the round table not jus giving my cookies up like that, we gotta see eye to eye.....now i see this up here and ima ready to just pick at em now, even though i aint agree to get down with him. but dude did seem cool, so i aint gonna extra judge the book cover, just remember that record industry peoples are shady!!!!!!!!

This shit is crazy....I almost and I mean almost (had the money ready to go and everything) sent him my shit....My gut stopped me from doing it though....He continued to e-mail me too regarding still doing the consultation deal but I was never feeling giving ol' boy $500 of my or anybody else's hard earned money no matter how hungry to get my tracks shopped I am....Now that I'm seeing all these peoples that have figured out his bullshit I'm madd happy I used my better judgment....Somebody should holla at Scratch Magazine and let them know what's really good wit dude cuz that's where I first saw him and he seemed legit but I guess not....

I got emails from him too. That madd jokes. Me I knew that it was lookin kinda iffy. I emailed him once. Barely checked that email account, then seen him email me 4 times in 1 week. TRU STORY. i read it also from Scatch. Me, I wanna get ma music OUT. HOWEVER. But I ain't tryna pay other people to then wanna work wit me. If ma beats is fire, they pick me up an lets go. I dont want to seem insensitive to this issue but...... I notice everyone talking about how foul he is. My question is what do ya plan on doing about this? Maybe Felisha can use her connects to get a write up in a magazine (web or hard copy) to talk about this.

Why was I about to get down wit bul. He told me that my beats had potential to sale. Wow, Im real glad I saw this, you don't know how hard I was workin to get up that 500, I mean 400 dollars to get at him, he also droped the priced down for me, which he said he dosen't do. But wow, I still be talkin to this nigga, this shit is crazy. And everytime I said if you feelin me, why cant u just fuck wit me and worry about the money later, he always got out of answering the question. I've dealt with Spliff in the past when I was beat hustlin in NYC in 2004...real cool cat...he liked alot of my shit...never mentioned nothin about a consulation fee tho...just said he would push tracks. I never carried on with tho...I got other agents to do that for me....I can't believe he's hustlin fools on here....if that's the case. DAMN!!!

word on the street is that spliff is the real deal - I know somebody who went into many A&Rs offices in the past month & his discs were on top of the stack at all of them
