I kinda sick of Recycle, at the end of slices there's always the noise of the next slice and that's annoying. Also, when you play all the slices it always sound choppish.
What could I use? I say Mac, but if you got something for PC throw it too.

I've been using phatmatik.
I'm not too fond of it, but its better than having to chop samples before making the beat on my laptop.
Still nothing beats an mpc.......
I like the ease of recylce...but i agree...i take extra time and chop samples in my mpc... Call me old school if you want, but Computer based chopping kills my momentum...just me
Aight, I'mma look into audacity and phatmatik
But stress, I'm trying to find out if it's just me that when I chop with recycle then play the whole chopped sample, it sounds all choppish and kinda clips at every slices? I've been using it for years and that shit always bugged me
Dude..it's not just you...i still havent found my computer based sampler that rivals the mp's feel
is it free?...not that it matters but it's always easier to get free software lol
But yeah, I set it to 0, when you do that there's not the sound of the next slice at the end, but it still plays choppish when you play the whole looped chopped.
What I dont like about Recycle is i cant trigger the sample from my controller. I started sampling on a MPC so I wish I could replicate that. Do any of ya know of program that could do that and at the same time be integrated into Logic 8.
I use Beat Detective inside pro tools. I love it because u just hit analyze (use the slider to determine how in depth u want the cuts) and then chop it. And then it has its own swing presets from the mpc, logic etc that you can use to place the samples to get that 'groove'. This tool is an absolute must in my productions to get precision cuts and making none robotic (sounding) grooves.

What about Logic? The sample slicing tool in there is nice for cutting but what I like more is having logic instantly stretch or decrease the size of your sample to match the tempo of your track.
Logic is definately the way to go. You can slice a whole record in a matter of seconds, then drag and drop into the EXS. It auto-maps the samples across the keys, then the rest is up to you, and your creativity.......
