what do u think of the MV 8000? a cat that comes to my studio is selling one for $700.00 , I thought about getting it to sequence some of my old hardware synths.

I owned one for a while, along with my mpc 2000xl.... I loved the MV 8000, but honestly, nowadays, just spend that dough on a good laptop and midi/audio interface, and you're better off. That's my opinion. And i still use hardware synths in my setup, so really i'm not lying. It's just so much easier for me to edit midi in Cubase than on any drum machine. But if you really want a hardware sequencer/sampler, the MV is a great machine.
I been using all software for a min, to tell the truth I'm getting bored with using software so I'm going to throw some hardware back in to the game,
Well, my experience is only between the MPC 2000xl and the MV, not the later MPCs.
Between these two, the comparison came down to the Roland being able to do waaaay more, although it definitely required more time with the manual. I'm partial to both, but if i had to only have one machine i'd take the MV. Great feel, great sound, and packed with features, especially the eq on each channel of outs, not to mention audio tracks, timestretching, etc.
And you could use a pitch bender on a pad WHILE the pad was playing, which is something the akai's just can't do.
Also liked that I could plug the Roland into a VGA screen.
But more hits been made on the MPC2kxl than a mofo so this is just my opinion lol.
Right now my hit ratio is 0% lol.
U should check out MV nation a super mv8800/8000 blog site..that might help
but whatever your comfortable with as long it helps your creativity and
and you enjoy the work flow. I'm using FL but i'll never sale
my mpc 2k.
Yea Im a MP head, I just wanted to see which 1 you liked better. I got on a MV before and it definately wasn't just hop on and get going, I couldn't figure that shit out for nothin.
I Have the Mv 8000- I lost alot of tracks when I first started.... I wasnt reading the manual. But all in all I love it. Its all I really know as far as hardware.... So I couldnt really be fair with comparing the two.
Yeah I feel you on that, it def took me time with the manual... and the interesting thing for me in retrospect is this: if I could only have one machine, the MV or the MPC, I would take the MV..... but since i have a computer setup i'm happy with, if you asked me which machine I occasionally reflect on with nostalgia and wish I hadn't sold - it would be the MPC....
