This is for all you cats that are sick with pro tools. How do you track out you music? Do you record everything to your Mpc, Sp, or Mv, or do you record directly into pro tools or whatever editing softwear you use? I'm asking cause I'm trying to find the best way to track out my music with the least issue and best overall workflow.

One way is to have Pro Tools trigger your MPC or other sampler via midi. So you slave the sampler and Pro Tools becoms the master. Depending on how many outputs you have on your sampler, you can record multiple tracks at a time in Pro Tools. That also depends on how many inputs you have on your interface too digi 003 or whatever. When I had the ASR-10 I would do it that way. I had 8 outputs coming off my sampler. and would record 8 at a time having Pro Tools trigger the ASR.

I track everything out of the Mp 1 at a time, but my mp is the master. If I had a digi rack I would do 8 at a time.

You can still do it but Pro-tools has to be the master and the MP is the slave
once you sync it with Pro-tools you can just hit the record button and yes
with Pro-tools being the master you can track all 8 outs at one time simultan-
    eously.

I know that you can track out using Pt as the master, but I saw a whole list of configurations, and I figured that using Mp as the master would be better for me, everyone's situation is different, Im still havin trouble tryin to us FL as a sound module, but some nigga some where is killin em with that set up, I can't seem to make it work. Basically what Im sayin is that by my MP being the master, it works for me, Davis whats your setup now, what kind of hardware are you using.

The MP 2kxl, motif 6, PT 7.4, with a bunch of soft synths and a midi controller. I even mess around with Garage band every so often. I run everything off a iMac G5. nothing too heavy. I'm still learning and trying to find the best configuration to make my work flow better. I asked the question cause I wanted to get some Ideas on how I should or if I should change my set up around especially since I slowly starting to build my equipment up.

Nigga I want that Motif, but your setup sound pretty solid. I have the MPC2kxl a nut ass Roland Juno D, Pro tools 7.4, and Im trying to incorporate FL or Reason which ever 1 would work better with my setup, but all I have is FL right now, and Im trying to just use it as a sound module, still sequencing with the MP, but when I use FL and my MP, I can only record 1 track, if I try to do another it cancels the first one out. Aint nobody answered that one for me. Do you have your Mp synced with protools when your tracking out. O yea I have a bunch of soft synths to but I can't use em.

No. I'm tracking single tracks too, but I'm working trying to figure that out. I'm gonna post the question soon. If I can get this tracking thing straight then my music can be cleaner and flow will definitely be easier.
