Yo whaddup family. i'm getting my ass kicked in reason man....i'm trying to get my horns to sound more authentic..for those who know reason 3, i typically use fat brass in the NNXT joint, but i'd like to get closer to the horns in "Put On" by jeezy, those authentic chords...anybody know of any refills or eq techniques i can use

I assume you are triggering them with a midi keyboard right? I don't think I've used fat brass or I don't recall, but it's going to be mostly in the playing of it. Don't just play the chords like a piano. It will sound like it. Play a few different takes and layer them to try and recreate a horn/brass section. Maybe layer from different patches besides fat brass. Like take a trumpet from another patch and a sax and trombone from another and play that with the fat brass stuff. Each part in a real brass section will be playing a bit differently. also use your pitch bend or similar so the sounds aren't just straight but can allow you to be more expressive like a real brass player. Also reverb works nice on some of these romplers like fat brass to take the hard edge off.

At the end of the day, nothing beats a real brass section, but us electronic musicians have to make do..LOL

Yo Star what it is my dude did you check out the "BRASSENS" patch in the nn19
better than any I have ever heard in the NNXT but the only thing that I havent
heard in the brass section in reason is a French Horn throw on an RV7000 and
a Scream 4 Device bring the decay down to 3 on the RV7000 and the dry wet
down to 2 then on the Scream bring the P! to 1:82 and the P2 to 2:42
and just tweak the Reso and the scale to get the perfect sound qual that
you're looking for have fun my dude.

I think so, some really good brass samples! If you have the Propellerheads Orkester samples, this is one step above. Also worth checking out are the rest of the Miroslav refills, the symphonic strings are just plain sick!!!

Word son I got this shit...deff. powerful...but shit another thing kats are overlooking is the Combinator presets. Load up a Combinater...and select the Combinator folder under the Factory Refill...and there should be a Brass folder....from there its history.
