I've been having this problem with my keyboard not working in FL or it will work for a while and then stop working. If I rescan midi devices it comes up for a little bit then quits on me again. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver several times because I know the M audio devices can be shaky.

    Any help on this?

I don't have a solution, but i have had the same problem for awhile. I take the same steps you have and it comes back, goes away.....

I have Reason and Reaper so I never bothered to try and track down the problem. Out of curiosity what audio interface are you using? I use a Yamaha EX5 as my midi controller. I also have a M-Audiio Firewire 410 audio interface. This problem started when I updated to FL Studio 8. One last question do you use the din type midi out ports of your controller or do you use the midi usb mode?

it seems to have started when I switched to 8 as well. I use the digi002 rack and the USB midi mode.

I'll log on to the imageline forum and see if I can get some hints.

It's started to coorelate with a strange crackle from my speakers. Right after the crackle the keyboard would stop. I scanned my HD for erros, updated BIOS, and updated soundcard driver. So far haven't heard.

Funny thign is, it always happens when I colab with people so they look at my system like it's on some bullshit. Frustrating!

I know what you mean! I moved on to Reaper because of this issue. It could possibly be fixed with a brief visit to the Imageline forum, but quite frankly when I have an idea, I have a limited window of time to express it. I don't have time to troubleshoot. I noticed I didn't have the problem with Reason and I only used FL Studio as my Rewire and VST host. So I didn't have a problem switching hosts.

Well that helps narrow it down for me. My PC still crackles even after FL is closed though.
