I was wondering if some of you could give me some of your opinions. I might take Jim's advice and invest in one of these.

HS50Ms sound pretty much identical to the NS10Ms as they were designed to do.

Here is an article from Mix magazine that i found a little while ago:

    http://mixonline.com/mag/audio_yamaha_hsm_monitor/

Also here is a graph of a comparison of frequency responses of both speakers:

    Sorry for the big pic.

As you can see neither speaker is flat, They actually have about a 5dB boost in the 2khz range. Both drop off significantly below 200Hz with the HS50M dropping off much more sharply after 50hz. This is not a problem because once again you are trying to mimic th e sound of a low end consumer system, which is what most music will be listened to on. I think you will do fine with either pair. Be prepared to learn to mix all over again. They will definitely let you know if your mix game is not up to par.

Good looking Synth. I tell you man you cease to amaze me with your researching skills. I have been doing some of my own research and found some reviews on sweetwater http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/HS50M/reviews/

All of them were great reviews and a number of them mentioned that HS50M were comparable to the NS10s. I think I am going with the HS50M. Now I just gotta get the money up.

Looks like a good deal. That low end difference shouldnt make a difference in your consideration, cus you shouldnt be mixing lows on the ns10's anyway.

If you buy, make sure you buy them on ebay with the 25% off trick...

I will definitely do that Jim. So I figure if i get HS50M and the ARC system I should be straight.
