FBI wants to know who has access to a PC computer for live events. Even if your girlfriend, or your boy that lives down the street has one you can get to easy..............or you have one lying around you aren't using that you can use for a few hours for a live event. Vote in the poll and leave comments (especially if you vote no).

who's the no??.......throw up a comment when you get the chance because otherwise you might be fresh outta fuck on live events. Not a threat, just a thought.

Do you not have ANY way to get to a PC at all for a couple of hours?

That was me I can get to a PC in the day time but not after 3pm(even then it's very difficult) and I know the live events are usually at night. The only other person with a PC I can get to had everything destroyed by Hurricane Ike and they still haven't got their check from FEMA.

    ok, bet.

Maybe someone in here knows how to emulate pc on the mac's. I talked to byiton earlier and he seemed pretty knowledgeable about it. Maybe he can chime in on the possibility of you emulating the pc os on a mac for the live events.

What you're talking about is called PC virtualization.
I've hooked up a few computers to do this...

There's a program out called VMware http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/ and it will allow you to run Windows based programs as well as Mac programs on the same computer.

Other programs that will allow you to do this include:

    Virtual PC: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...virtualpc.html

    Parallels: http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/

    Boot Camp: http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

Each program excels at doing something, so make sure you read about each one to see if it fits with your workflow.

    Hope this helps

ok, bet. I have a PC so I won't need this program personally, but are the directions you gave both pretty self explanatory for the people that don't have access to a PC?

Basically, the mac users will need to be able to use internet explorer as their browser, and be able to install the program for the video conferencing (both free obviously). so whichever one will do that most effectively would be the one that mac users need. Do you feel like VMWare is best for this purpose?

stay on the lookout for a live event test run of the software for mac users trying out the pc programs. FBI is going out of town so it wont' be in the next few days, but she may decide to do it. She'll post, or email if she does.

With the program I mentioned, they all have free trials...the best one being VMWare, but it's only for 30 days, so you won't get the benefit of actually owning the program. That's one solution.

What video conferencing software do you use/plan on using?

Another option would be to find a program that can install on both Windows and Mac. That would be a way cheaper solution and would totally cut out having to use VMWare to virtualize Windows...

Anyway, I wanna help make this a success, so feel free to hit me up anytime, whether on email or PM.

Aaron, thanks for the reply. But the biggest issue isn't finding a conferencing site that allows both PC and Mac Users. There are a ton of those, but the problem is finding a site that allows 50 to 150 people on at a time (to text message), and more importantly, allows you to have as large a number of people as possible video conference simultaneously. The aim is to accomodate as many webcam users as possible so they can all be seen at any time. The current software FBI is running allows more than the software used for the previous DP live events and has a lot of dope features that will make the conference run a lot smoother.

As I went through the one's you listed (just to see if any of those are better than the current one in use), I thought DimDim would be a viable option until I saw that only one person could be seen at a time in the video conferencing.

Megameeting allows 16 to use video simultaneously....i'll have to check with FBI when she gets back from her trip and see if the software she's currently using allows more than that (I want to say it does). I couldn't find the max video user number for gotowebinar and yugma though, even though i'm pretty sure i've seen gotowebinar before during our previous search.
