Thread: Beat Making Layout

Can some Body please display a layout Of Making a Hip-Hop beat.
I think I'm missing something.

I listened to all the beats on your myspace, and the main thing to me are the drums. Get bigger / harder drums sounds ! Mix them louder too so we can hear em well.

First thing is the mix fam. You have to make sure that you can hear everything.

Second thing is the format. Most of them sound like one long intro. Try flipping the sample or the sounds you're working with in the melody a little differently from chorus to verse. You've gotta keep people listening. In your case, the mix should be fixed first. You could have the hottest beat in the world, but if no one can hear it... well you understand.

Try using an old pair of speakers... or your cellphone (if it has the capability) to check your rough mixes. (I use my lap top) If you can hear everything... you've usually got a balanced mix. You should also be comparing your mixes and beats to the songs that influence you.

Hope I could help. Keep it up though man. It sounded like you were getting a little bit better on 'The Alamo'. - try chopping that guitar sample up more. get creative with it.
