Thread: ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC?

For those of you who are affiliated, who did you sign up with and why?

For those of you who are not affiliated, what are using to determine who to sign up with?

If anyone has any experiences in dealing with any or all of the PRO's that they can share, please do!

I'm an affiliate at SESAC.

I was working with a label where all the artists were on SESAC, so they set me up there too. I've been told that their collections for digital releases / licensing are top-notch, but I can't say personally (the tracks I did have not come out). I can say that the staff is very responsive to questions and easy to get ahold of.

BMI member... when i first started writing and producing professionally over 10 years ago, the major group i was signed to were bmi members. i wasn't even aware of sesac at the time, however i was knowledgeable of ascap but i didn't know anyone personally that was affiliated.

BMI member...All I knew was that I needed to be affiliated with one of the three, but didn't know if there was any major difference between them. So I just went thru the cds of the artists I was listening to at the time and a majority of them were BMI.
