Thread: Get Beats to a G-Unit A&R

<p>Tony G, a&amp;r at g-unit is doing live streams online and announces the details on his twitter (so follow him @tonygnyc on twitter).&nbsp; On his twitter page he'll post a email to send for beat/song submissions to be reviewed.&nbsp; He only checks this particular email during the live stream and never before or after.&nbsp;&nbsp; Send a max of 3 beats, and make sure you put your name and phone number in the email and label your tracks with your name and phone number as well.&nbsp; You DO NOT want him lookin to give you a check, and can't get in touch with you.&nbsp; He also will post the link to the stream page.</p>
<p>If he likes your tracks you can make a contact and get beats on an album.&nbsp; I went to two live streams nights, and was 1 of 3 people over the 2 nights who he hit up laterwith his real email to submit beats because he liked our tracks from the stream.&nbsp; Even if he doesn't like the tracks, or doesn't play your tracks he still gives good feedback, and tips on A&amp;R pet peeves, industry information, and other things so its worth being there regardless.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>He says he gets about 300 submissions a night&nbsp; for the streams as you can imagine (and that number will only go up as more people hear about it because there have only been 2 nights so far and he just put out a promo video for it).</p>
<p>Hustle tip:&nbsp; the 1st night i submitted my beats and they didn't get played because i submitted the moment i saw it on twitter (2 hours before the live stream).&nbsp; While watching the stream I realized he might be playing the most recent emails first.......so the second night i sent early (just in case i was wrong and he was doing first come first serve), AND I pre-attached my tracks in an email and waited till he wrapped up his introduction THEN pressed send.&nbsp; and WALA i was the 5th or 6th set of beats he played that night.&nbsp; so try that technique to raise your chances.&nbsp; I wouldn't send every 5 minutes, because i'm sure most A&amp;R's pet peeve is getting spammed with tracks.)</p>
<p>Despite contrary reports, he says 50's album is still open, and he's also taking tracks for banks, yayo, and prodigy (even tho he's in prison).&nbsp; So follow @tonygnyc on twitter and take advantage because he isn't guaranteeing he's gonna keep doing this.</p>

no prob peeps, glad I can help even if its just a little bit. I figure its a very rare opportunity to make a connect in a building that could care less about your name or placement history. Dude also places records outside of g-unit so feel free to send him full songs, references, R&B, pop whatever. As long as its heat (his own words not mine). I think he said he placed 22 records for producers in the past year (and manages them as well). So don't feel like you can't send a dope R&B record with a crazy reference hook on it just because G-unit doesn't have R&B artists.

Send the heat to the stream tho cause last night he told a producer he should quit making beats, lol....though he gives constructive criticism most of the time. Its all about branding though, dude has a good memory for names so make sure what you submit represents yourself well.

Oh, and follow the tip I posted above to raise your chances of gettin your beats played out of the couple hundred he'll get that night. Send once early when he announces the stream well beforehand, but send 1 more time when he is about to play beats during the stream, that's what worked for me. Don't spam him and send every 5 minutes tho, cause he says if he sees your spamming he's skipping your name. He may stream again this weekend.

A lot of people submit so most people (especially those w/o a gameplan) won't get there stuff played, but its worth the time regardless because he does give good constructive criticism on WHY he doesn't like the track. So its rare you can actually watch an A&R go thru beats and see why he did or didn't like a particular track. Plus, he drops some jewels on the industry, does and don't, and all that.

I been in there 3 nights and have only seen 1 DP member (shouts to SP of Beat Fakulty)......so i need more of us to represent.

oh, and he doesn't like heavily tagged beats (like most people). He says if you have to tag it, don't send it. Oh, and try to be present for the stream if you submit, because otherwise how else will you know if liked, or even played your tracks. Peace fam, and good luck.

@beatfellaz he streams off of ustream. He posts the link on his twitter a few hours before he's gonna stream, as well as the email that he'll be checking that night for the stream.

Yeah I saw that too... actually try to go on his myspace people... he gives some more info on how to send the beats... even if Jaay mentionned pretty much all there is to know, there is some great info on there still...

i'll check that out, i'd rather everything be done with myspace.. sorry i'm kinda behind on these internet profile shits. i made a twitter a few months ago, but today was the first time a logged on lolz. and it was only cause of this industry opp.

@drape IMO myspace is dead. Twitter has it dominated because its spamless. Cats on myspace have even figured out ways to post a player in your comments that will play on your page. I still have the page, but that's about it.

Oh, and DO NOT SEND HIM A LINK IN THE EMAIL (be it myspace, sendspace, soundclick, etc.) He made that very clear during the first few streams. Last I heard he said he was gonna try to stream early this coming week.

yea i know myspace is dead, but that's all i know about. i was just on twitter an hour ago and saw it said sometime this week will be the next stream. i just dont know what to do on twitter. the way it seemed to me is that all you can do is tell ppl wtf your doing. i dont get the point

@drape, that's one reason for twitter to let the random thoughts of your mind leak onto the net......but if used properly, it can be a pretty valuable networking tool. Once you get used how everything works its a breeze. You can figure everything you need to know about twitter in 15-20 minutes.

i'll see.. i cant be on it like that tho u feel me.. i go on myspace, dp, soundclick, mybeatshop, yahoo, youtube, only once a day becasue i dont got time to be on it all day since i dont got internet at the crib, i gotta go out to an internet cafe type place, which if where im at right now and its 3 am out here and i pay about 3 dollars from 12 midnite - 8am ..lolz up all night, but twitter seems like somethin u gotta be on literally all day to keep up with. like ppl go on it with a sidekcick or iphone and i dont got that shit so.. i odont know ill do my best with that twitter thing after all i wanna get down with this tony g streams. so im in

That does make it harder. Also, the streams so far have all been at 9pm so i'm not sure what time that is in Armenia but if my quick math is decent its 7am there when its 9PM here. Hopefully, despite that you can make it. The streams aren't recorded to my knowledge so you can't review them after the fact though i know ustream does have that feature.

6am actually lolz. if i knew the exact date and time of each stream a day or two ahead of time, then i would be able to make it, but the question is will i know about it?? i was on twitter and saw that the last stream was less than 24hours ago if im not mistaken, but i may not hear or read about the next one, just like i didnt hear about that last one in time
