2009 Conference Theme: The Future Of Music Production
Because: We want the world to know that Dynamic Producers aren't segmented by genre. The Future Of Music Production is all encompassing and its exciting....its not just hip-hop, not just r&b, not just pop....BUT GOOD MUSIC that people can connect to...that people can feel.... It's time to yet again raise the bar on what it means to be called a GREAT PRODUCER. Our 2009 conferences aren't about the "celebrity" of being a producer, but rather about THE MUSIC and the technological and creative advances that producers employ to grow their career. In the past, many have talked about what it takes to break into the film/tv industry, but it is our goal, to put some more tangible opportunities in place to help make it a reality for those interested.

FBI: How much is the registration fee, it says $285.00 and then on top of that it says 5months can you please clarify what this means, and when will you have more details posted. I am from Canada and would like to attend, so I would like to know the cost of hotel airfare and registration and any hidden costs I should know about. myspace.com/venumthaemcee

lol Most times, if the cost is hidden, is cause they don't want to tell you about them.lol Nah, no hidden fees with DP. Can't say the same about the hotel you might stay at or the car rental place.lol

yep its $285, the 5 months is just the time duration of the subscription, but no worries, you'll only be charged once. we'll have more details next week, we are actually waiting on the school, originally we were going to have the event at a hotel but then the los angeles recording school stepped up and wants us to have the even there, the guy went on vacation so i'm hoping he gets back to me this coming week, if not by then it'll be first week in feb....we want to get you guys good rates at the nearest hotel so thats why we haven't posted those specifics as of yet, but soon as we can, we most certainly will, probably new panelist updates will come next week...stay tuned:-)....but def check out rates on rental cars...you need to be rollin in CALI

nah, last I heard there was going to be both a LA and NY conference.

I've been to the NYC one for the last three or four years and i also had the privilege of making it out to the LA one last winter. The LA one was a bit smaller in scale, the NY one was larger, had more panels and events, and more people. But that doesn't mean one was better than the other. The bottom line is what you make of it.

NYC - So much awesome sh*t to hear, so many people to network with, but also more competition for attention if you're trying to showcase or battle. But truly inspiring people.

LA - a bit smaller, but that makes it easier to meet people. And if you step out for the other days before and after, do some research into what's going on and who's hanging out where, you can have a fricking amazing experience too.

The people you rub shoulders with, the people sitting beside you, you have no idea how well connected and driven alot of people are. And if you're working at your craft, chances are you have connections and experiences to offer others as well.

So I gave a cop out answer for which one to go to.... Ideally both... If only one or the other, you gotta look at other factors like how ready you will be, or whether you need some inspiration, or if you just need a little vacation lol.

My first DP event was in Miami years ago during the spring. By DP standards it was a smaller event, but I had a very very valuable experience that made me more ready and able to appreciate the NYC conference that summer in a way that I wouldn't have if I hadn't gone. Plus I made some GREAT friends at that first small event that I might not have met in NYC cause i'm not really a super out-going person sometimes if I'm not behind my own bar or my turntables where I have an excuse to talk to people. Sounds silly but that's what it is.

It's taken me years to get to where I am now (which is officially nowhere from the outside looking in lol), but I'm pursuing my goals and am very excited for this year.

And it all started for me at a small event in a smaller organization than the juggernaut it is now lol.

Have to shout out FBI, Bond, Tah, Knox, and the staff for all these years of work lol.

ok, so check it...we're working on some official remix competitions for the LA conference...if you could remix any song that was released by Def Jam, which would it be? we're trying to make it happen but i also need to put together a wish list....so yall lemme know!

Yo I'm about 95% sure I'm coming. Anyone looking to share a room and/or car please let me know, especially since for me renting a car is extremely difficult and expensive due to my age. I have no money so I'm down to split a room too at whatever cheap place I can.

where do you live?....i'm like an hour and half out of LA so i'm probably just going to commute for the weekend or so...you're better off getting a place outside of LA or way far from the conference and commuting as well...it'd probably be cheaper to stay in the valley or something

Some of us are torn about attending the NYC Conference over the LA Conference, is there any consideration given to oneday passes to the LA Conference? This may give those of us who want to attend both NY and LA a chance to afford both.

Damn the registration cost should be the least of your worries unless you live in LA, in which case you better be there all three days. If you're traveling there for the conference, the registration is NOTHING compared to the other costs. Why would you want to pay $300-$400 for a flight, another $400 on a hotel, plus car and other costs and not even go to the whole conference?

But anyway, I'm still looking for someone (over 25) to share a room and car with, hit me up I swear I'm not crazy, LOL.

lol, it did sound like a personals ad. I guess he's talking about avoiding the extra cost you have to pay the car rental company when your under 25. I could be wrong tho. I'm 24, so im gonna have to take that hit on the car rental myself.
