Sup everyone,
The names phil and I hail from CT. I've wanted to produce for years and am finally making the leap into getting really into it. I've just recently started but I've had tons of beats floatin around in my head for years and am just trying to get good enough to be able to lay down what I'm hearin. My favorite producer of all time is DJ Scratch. Man I'll never forget the first time I heard that "whole world lookin at me" beat he did for busta on When disaster strikes. Favorite beat of all time though has got to be the Computer Love beat by Zapp and Roger, that shit is just timeless. I also look up to producers/dj's like Pete Rock, DJ Premier, RZA, Da Beatminerz, J dilla, and swiss beats. I've also been listening to alot of beats and tracks that all of you have put on the site and I have to say that I'm impressed and excited to be around such talent.
Anyway, I just recently joined up with DP and would just like to say whaddup to everyone and hope I can be a helpfull part of the community hear. I can't wait to start learning and growing with all of you, peace.

PS: could anyone give me some insight as to what gear DJ scratch uses/used for producing his many hits? And perhaps some gear/software that I should consider getting into to seriously make tracks? I currently own Reason 3.0, an maudio axiom 61, a pair of maudio bx5a speakers, and a pc but plan on investing alot more time and money into more of a professional setup as I've recently realized I want to someday do this for a living.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can offer advice!
Welcome to the family iLLPHiL... I'm a DJ Scratch fan too. Don't know exactly what he uses but it was probably an MPC or SP1200 during that time.Originally Posted by iLLPHiL

whatup, i'm Kyle aka $port. I'm from Toledo, Ohio. I've been makin' beats for about for about six years now. The weapon of choice is the MPC 2000XL. When I talk about influences, I gotta say Madlib, Kanye, Just Blaze, Preemo, Pete Rock and soooo many others. However, my all-time absolute hero on the beats is Dilla. He's done a ton for me as far as helping me stay dedicated and creative.
I've been checking everything out for a while, but I decided to make the jump today. I'm looking forward to getting in the mix around here and also getting to know some fellow beatsmiths like myself...
glad to be here,
$port

What's good, DP! This is G-Flow from Long Beach, CA. Been producing for 13 years. Been doing music for 18 years (started out as an emcee). I have worked with alot of local artist such as Daz, Truth Hurts, Lady of Rage, Crooked I, Sly Boogy and G Malone to name a few. Been on DP for about 2 years. I'm on DP to expand my production skills and get out of working in the same region. Plus listening to producers on DP helps me to keep stepping my game up. Recently I have gotten into movie/tv/video game scoring and engineering. So if anybody needs their music mixed and/or mastered, get at me.

This is Cheez Da Producer introducing myself. I'm holding it down for New York City. I've been a musician since I was 9 years old and producing for the last 8 years. I play electric bass, keys, synths and samplers. I also dream red, purple and green waveforms at times. Too many hours in front of that computer. I do any type of music I can. But my love is Hip-Hop. Check my music out on myspace and definitely hit me up.
